Product 13Teaching Tool
ChronoForge
Turn a lesson into a story learners live: they step into a moment that mattered, investigate, decide under pressure, then compare their path with what really happened.
Overview
About ChronoForge
ChronoForge turns a lesson into a decision story that learners play. Each world drops them into a moment that mattered, such as the Cuban Missile Crisis, John Snow's cholera investigation or Friar Laurence's plan in Romeo and Juliet. They take a role close to the decisions, follow leads, question the people in the room, work out what the evidence shows, and make choices that cost something. At the end, their path sits beside the anchor: the historical record, the source text, the scientific evidence or expert practice.
Teachers own the facts; AI performs them. The teacher fixes the skeleton of every world: the learner's role, the turning points, the options and what each one costs, the clues and their sources, the questions to work out and their answers, and what really happened. Agents on the VIABLE Developer Platform perform it live: the scenes, voiced dialogue, answers to learners' own questions, consequences, endings and what-ifs. The engine, not a model, moves the stakes, marks the work and decides endings, so every learner meets the same decisions and a class can compare.
Every chapter is one real decision, played in six beats. Learners arrive in a dated scene, investigate leads that each hold a true, sourced clue, ask anyone in the room a question, work something out with the evidence, decide, and later compare. Characters know only what they could have known then, and a VETTING reviewer checks each reply before the learner sees it. Some options unlock only after the learner has found the evidence or done the reasoning that makes them possible.
Learning first, not a quiz. Each chapter names what learners practice and includes a check answered from the evidence on screen: a calculation with real, sourced figures, a choice whose wrong answers are real misconceptions, or a written claim with evidence. The engine gives a hint after a first wrong try and then shows the worked reasoning; no AI grades the learner. At each decision learners can say how sure they are. If a stake collapses, the timeline breaks early and explains why, and learners can rewind to any chapter. The debrief sets their path beside the record, writes what-ifs from their choices, and a reflection coach answers their writing with one question.
Built for classes. A teacher gives a class one six-letter code and several worlds in their chosen order, with one pinned to play now. Students join on any device with their Google account. Each world can be adapted for the class with a note, simpler language, extra checks and reflection questions, without changing its facts. Class insights show where the class split from the record, which questions tripped learners up, how sure they were and what still confuses them, so the discussion can start where the class disagreed with history.
Build a world from your own lesson. In World Studio, teachers describe the moment and add their sources and files, and the World Architect drafts the role, turning points, evidence and anchors. VETTING reviews the draft against the design rubric and a validator checks it rule by rule; the teacher edits every word. Any world can be copied and adapted, and a library reviewer reads a world before it is listed in the public library.
One world per subject. The library opens with eight worlds for learners from middle school to university: history (Thirteen Days), science (The Broad Street Pump), literature (The Friar's Remedy), civics (The Black Armbands), engineering (Before This Decade Is Out), economics (Bread for Billions), math (The Lady's Numbers) and journalism ethics (The Pentagon Papers).
An open harness for AI in education. ChronoForge is an example application of the VIABLE education harness. Its five agents (Storyteller, Character, Reflection Coach, World Architect and Library Reviewer) are published on the VIABLE Developer Platform, so their instructions, versions and traces are managed in one place, and every AI call is charged to a signed-in account within limits set by administrators. Decisions, evidence followed and reflections can join each learner's VIABLE record, and the research export uses pseudonymous IDs and leaves out learners who opted out and classes their teacher kept out. The design rules live in one plain document, the world-design skill, that any AI agent can follow.
