Seiyon Lee is a Ph.D. Candidate in Educational Technology at the College of Education, University of Florida. She was born and raised in South Korea before coming to the United States to pursue her Master's in Learning Sciences & Technologies at Penn GSE.
She is interested in empowering learners in their moments of struggle as their presence grows in digital learning environments. Toward this broad goal, she primarily uses quantitative methods (e.g., machine learning) while also leveraging the strengths of qualitative methods to promote a more nuanced understanding of how learning occurs in context. In particular, she looks for ways to center learners in the design of advanced learning technologies, with the belief that they are best positioned and equipped to catalyze change in their learning.
When she's not doing research, Seiyon finds significant fulfillment in making food that is not only Korean but also international (e.g., Kimchi and Yum Woon Sen) and baked goods (e.g., Earl Grey Bundt Cake), and she often feeds and fattens her loved ones.
