We are pleased to announce that our lab member Shan Zhang represented VIABLE Lab at the 32nd International Conference on Computers in Education (ICCE 2024) held at Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines, from November 25-29, 2024.
Best Overall Paper Award Nomination
Our research paper was nominated for the Best Overall Paper Award at ICCE 2024.
Conference Participation
ICCE 2024, organized by the Asia-Pacific Society for Computers in Education (APSCE), provided an excellent platform for sharing our latest research developments in educational technology. Our presentation contributed to the conference's focus on advancing technology-enhanced learning.
Research Presentation
During the conference, Shan presented a study on middle school students' collaborative problem-solving, focusing on higher-order question-asking in pair programming. The research identified three types of higher-order questions aligned with Bloom's Taxonomy: understanding reasoning, analyzing problems, and generating new ideas. Additionally, the study revealed similar linguistic patterns between higher-order questions and other dialogue acts, such as confusion and help-seeking, emphasizing the complex interplay between these behaviors. This work generated valuable discussions among international researchers, providing insights to inform adaptive educational technologies and collaborative learning design.
